The value of programmers
I think that it is reasonably trite for application developers to either have a associated multiple skill or be at the top of their game. Recently, there has been a trend with hiring programmers from other countries. Some would argue that those programmers are our new cab drivers. Not to depreciate programmers, but there has been a change in the way companies look at programmers as there has been a huge influx of programmers from other countries. If they are willing to do it at less cost then Americans, then there will be a loss of value for that trade, as there has been in the recent times. Along with the abundance of programmers, there has been easier and easier programming languages created to help the “masses” create programs. I don’t see it as being something that we may all eventually learn and would be required to do so at positions but I think it will slowly be degraded more and more until it is on par with technical support representatives, if they exist at the time.
