So your a new technology manager and would like some pointers on how to become a good manager?  Here are the two best ways that I can say that will help you be a better technology manager

1.  Know your job! I find that everyday managers are promoted with a lack of understanding of what their subordinates do.  If you do not know the whole story, know how to get things done.  You don’t want to lose your staff’s trust.

2.  Keep communication open.  I am all about the open door policy that you need to have with your subordinates.  Also, if someone does come into your office, make sure that you don’t criticize them because they problaby wont come in a second time.
