Basics of management
I was recently talking to a manager outside of my organization and they said some shocking things that made me believe that they did not know how to be a manager. I think any organization that hires from within can attest the complications of management. My biggest concern would be my customers. As a manager, your customers are your staff. They deal with the customers day to day but it is your job as a manager to ensure that they can succeed in their work. If they are unable to do so then you have not done your job as a manager. In the light of aggressive sales maneuvers that are being placed on management to ensure sucess it is essential to know that your retention of your staff is just as much a factor as is your employees retention of your customers. That doesn’t mean that there will be normal turn around but anything excessive and you have to address yourself as a manager and see what you are doing wrong. Certain things and tactics don’t work at some point and it is imperative to address those concerns before you end up with a staff that is completely new and wont help you with your own numbers.
